Henneth-Annun Story Archive
http://www.henneth-annun.net
![]()
High quality stories of all types. You can place
your story in a beta category and get feedback from other members or
archive your stories so other members can read them. You must submit
your story for review before it will be placed in the public archive.
Your story is reviewed by a panel of peers - the first nine that decide
to check it out! They can be very selective.
Drawback: can take quite a long time to get the required number of
reviews and find out if they will archive your story or not. Nerve
wracking for the author who is waiting!

Stories of Arda
http://www.storiesofarda.com
![]()
Guidelines: fanfiction
stories set in the universe of JRR Tolkien. Rated G-R, no-slash or
parodies of slash. Entertaining and well-written stories
created by people who take pride in their work. Must submit a sample of
your work to be given authors uploading privileges, this process takes
less than a day in most cases. This archive seems to be where I have
the most luck getting reviews.

Open Scrolls Archive

Takes stories of all ratings, but NO slash. Immediate
author privileges once you join, but, because of this, some of the
stories are not the best.

The Trees Remember - Mirkwood
Fanfiction
http://www.helical-library.net/lotr/index.asp

I have no
experience with this archive, but it looks very nice and interesting!
From the site: TTR is a Tolkien fanfiction archive focused on the
history of Mirkwood. Once renowned as Greenwood the Great, now troubled
in these darker times, Mirkwood is yet home to the last and most
enduring Elven kingdom of Middle-earth. We chronicle its great king,
Thranduil; its fair prince, Legolas; and many other worthies of the
Elf, Human, Hobbit and Dwarf-kindreds.

Elvish Language Links
![]()
It is worth noting here that Quenya was banned in the First Age as the
'language of the kinslayers' and became a language of lore, not for daily use. Silvan was
also abandoned by the Wood-elves long before Legolas's birth. As such, the links provided
here are for the Sindarin language which would have likely been Legolas's native tongue.
PLEASE BEWARE of and site which boasts elvish from "The Grey Company". In
Tolkienesque circles, this is commonly called 'Grelvish' and is a gamer's mishmash of
Quenya, Sindarin and nonsense. It is NOT Tolkien's elvish and, IMO, should not be used in
fanfiction. If you truly have a love for the language (as I do) and wish to learn it, it
is possible to do so, but I warn you, it is not easy! There are many ways to bring
Sindarin Elvish to life in a story, but there is a
fine line between enhancing your story and bogging it down with too much Elvish!

you'll need to learn to conjugate your I-verbs from your A-verbs! Very easy to use, even
for those of us who have been away from English 101 for a while!

Fans unite in bringing The Hobbit to the silver screen.
(note: regardless of the legal mumbo-jumbo, this project does not appear to be slated to
begin filming until spring/summer 2006 at the earliest, as Peter and Fran are otherwise
engaged with King Kong.) Hands up if you think we'll see a non-canonical appearance of
Legolas in this film. (One can only hope!)
